The researcher Ana I Rodríguez, winner of the Prémio Fundação Eng. António de Almeida for the best doctoral dissertation

Our  GLOBALCODES researcher Ana I Rodríguez Iglesias has just been awarded the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida Prize for the best doctoral dissertation of the doctoral programs of the School of Economics of the University of Coimbra. Her dissertation ‘Peace without roots?’ The ethnic dimension of peace in Colombia explores, from a decolonial perspective, the struggle of the Afro-descendant and indigenous peoples of Colombia to be recognized as actors of peace and include their worldviews on peacebuilding in the Final Peace Agreement of La Havana between the government of Colombia and the demobilized FARC. In addition, based on a 15-month ethnographic study in the department of Chocó, her work analyzes the implementation of the ethnic and territorial dimensions of a peace policy during the first two years of the post-agreement. The award ceremony will take place on December 2 and as a result her dissertation will be published as a book.
